Owen is 2!

On Owen's birthday we had a small party at our house. Jeff's parents came to Kansas City. In the morning we met Jeff's sister at Portrait Innovations and had Owen's 2 year old photos taken and Xavier's 6 month photos taken. We wanted a few of them together, which proved to be quite a challenge! Our appointment was at 10am and we did not walk out of there till noon! By that point we were all hungry, so we ordered pizza to pick up and eat at the house. We had lunch, then Owen opened his gifts. He was so spoiled at Christmas I did not go nearly as overboard for his birthday. He got a bean bag chair (or volcano as he calls it) from Grandma and Grandpa. When we indent the middle of the bean bag chair he thinks it looks like a volcano, so that is what he calls it. His big gift from mom and dad was a trike. We have it set up and in the basement now, but he is having trouble peddling it himself. He has plenty of time to practice before spring! He also got a potty and some big boy undies with Elmo on them! Right when he unwrapped the potty he wanted to sit on it! Good sign. He has not peed in it yet, but does ask to sit on every once and awhile. We just have to take potty training in baby steps! He got a few more small gifts then we ate cake. When we lit the candle he said "wish" before he blew it out. I have no idea how he knew to make a wish, but I thought it was pretty funny! After stuffing ourselves with cake it was time for Owen to take a nap, and the rest of us watched the Cheifs loose their playoff game.

Owen's 2 year Dr. appointment went well. He was 28 pounds which is in the 50th percent. He was almost 36 inches tall, which makes him in the 90th percent. He did not have to get any shots, which as great. My only concern that I raised with the Dr. was that I think he may be color blind with blue, green and purple. Whenever I ask him what color one of those are he will say green almost every time. He knows most of his colors, so I don't know if he is just too young to expect him to know all the colors or if he may be color blind. He is too young to take the color blind test and since there is no treatment for it I guess we will just wait and see. The doctor said we could take him to an eye doctor for a full eye exam, but I really don't want to put him through that when his vision seems fine except possible color blindness. The only reason I think he may be color blind is because it runs in my family with males.

CAKE!!!!!

Making a wish and blowing out the candle. What would a 2 year old think to wish for anyways??? More toys???
YUM YUM YUM!
