First Haircut
After...I have to admit he looks pretty handsome!
For months Jeff has been trying to get me to get Owen's hair cut. I kept putting it off and putting it off because I did not want my baby to look like a big boy. Well I finally caved and we got Owen's hair cut for the first time on Monday. We went to Sheer Madness, a child hair salon in Zona Rosa. At first it was a big hit with Owen. The front of the salon was full of toys and he really liked the Hummer that he got to sit in. And then all the fun stopped when she put the dreaded cape on him. He started screaming and did not stop till we left. I guess he did not want to part with his curls either! We tired giving him a sucker, his pacifier and puppy, but nothing would do the trick. I don't even know how she cut his hair with him moving his head so much! I was wanting just a little trim, but instead all his curls are gone and he has a big boy haircut. Good thing hair grows back...and we won't be going back there any time soon!

Cousin Addy came to visit
Steve, Sarah and Addison came to visit us the weekend of June 19 and 20th. Addison immediately fell in love with BW. She was not very fond of Brody though. She kept saying "That cat tried to attack me." Jeff and Steve went golfing Saturday morning and Sarah and I tried to take the kids to the pool. We went to the pool and it was 90 degrees and sunny. After we were there about an hour the sky turned black and the lifeguard said a storm was rolling in with 70 mile per hour wind and possible hail. By the time we got everything picked up and the kids loaded back in the car, it started raining.
That afternoon we went to Paradise Park in Lees Summit. The kids had a great time doing arts and crafts, face painting, playing in a pretend grocery store, climbing on jungle gyms and playing in sand. Addison went to the "big kid" side and got to ride go carts with her daddy. While she was doing that Owen enjoyed playing in a ball pit. What could a toddler like more that hundreds of balls? Owen also really enjoyed playing in the sand. He loves to dig, and tries to do it at home in the dirt and mulch, but I won't let him dig up our landscaping. Every time he dug a scoop of sand he would look at Jeff with a face that said "Am I in trouble for doing this?" I am so excited to take him to Florida this fall and let him dig in sand all day long!
After Paradise Park we headed downtown to go to a Mexican restaurant. By that time both kids were looking like they were ready for bed. Owen ate more than I have ever seen him eat! He ate chips and salsa, half of his cheese quesadilla, rice and beans! I think he ate more than me! A little food in his belly really changed his attitude. When we got home him and Addy jumped around on the airo bed singing "2 little monkey jumping on a bed..." Thankfully neither of the monkeys actually bumped their heads! I think Owen fell asleep the second his head hit the mattress.
Sunday was Father's Day so we went out to brunch. After brunch Stevie, Sarah and Addison had to head back to St. Louis. We had lots of fun and can't wait to hang out with them again!

MMMMM...corn!
I was laughing so hard watching Owen eat corn I just had to take these pictures. He got mad when I tried to cut the corn off the cob so it would be easier for him to eat. That led to him trying to eat it off the cob himself. At first he just left the cob on his highchair tray and ate it with no hands. Finally he figured out that is was easier to pick up the cob. After each bite he took he said "mmmm." If he thought that corn was yummy I can't wait to see what he thinks of the corn at the Minnesota State Fair. Now that is something to say "mmmm" about!

Dana and Derek's Vegas Wedding
On June 9th Jeff and I flew to Vegas for Dana's (my college roommate) wedding. We stayed at the Wynn hotel which was beautiful. We had a great time having some "us" time since we rarely even go out to dinner without the little man. We did plenty of shopping, swimming, gambling and drinking. Unfortunately we did not win big...actually we did not win at all!
Dana and Derek got married in front of the Venetian hotel. As you can tell from the pictures it was not your traditional wedding! The groom and groomsmen wore tuxedo tee shirts and the bride and groom were drinking during the ceremony! A wedding like this would only happen in Vegas! We flew home on Friday and then left on Saturday for the wedding reception in Columbia MO. We had a great time but left the reception a little early because we wanted to drive home that night. After being away from Owen a few days we were really looking forward to sleeping in our own bed and waking up Sunday to hang out with Owen all day.
And where was Owen during all these wedding festivities you may ask. My mom came to Kansas City to watch him while we were in Vegas and Jeff's parents watched him for the reception on Saturday. Owen came down with a little stomach bug the Sunday before we left for Vegas. He was not eating and had diarrhea. He was pretty happy, but he was not full of energy like usual. My mom got to use our washing machine a few times from diaper explosions. Thankfully he started feeling better by Thursday!

Two blue puppies!
Grandma Jean found another blue puppy just like Owen's. I wish I would have had the camera out when we showed him that he had two puppies. He took one in each hand and started smiling and dancing around with them! He then sat on the carpet with the puppies hugging them, which is how he gives "love."
I have since hid the old puppy so we can have a replacement for when puppy needs to get washed or if one would ever get lost. I wanted to get the new puppy as "loved" aka drooled, puked, chewed on and drug through the mud! The old puppy is definitely more ragged than the new puppy!
