Welcome summer!

We had a great Memorial Day weekend. Being home for 3 days with no major projects to do was a treat. On friday night Owen went to his friends Jack's 3rd birthday party. He had a great time eating watermellon (and cake), swimming and jumping on the trampoline.

On Saturday and Sunday Daddy did some lawn work and Owen swam in the baby pool in the backyard. He loved the baby pool, but Mommy did not love the swim diapers very much. In 4 days he pooped in 4 swim diapers! Gross!

This weekend Owen started taking a long nap in the morning and not sleeping in the afternoon. He layed in bed for about an hour but never fell asleep. On Sunday night after 2 days of only one nap he slept for 13 and a half hours! It was awesome! I don't think Owen has ever slept until 9am! On Monday we decided to try just giving him one nap. He got a bit crabby in the morning, so we put him in bed for about 20 minutes and he rested. After a little rest he was a happy kiddo again. We took our first trip of the summer to the neighborhood pool. Mommy and Daddy swam with Owen and he loved it! After some swimming and lunch at the pool we headed home and put Owen down for a nap.

I'm sorry to see this weekend end...we had a great time relaxing as a family!

OOPS...I got way behind

I have been meaning to update this for a while, but never got around to it. In mid April Owen went to the Lake of the Ozarks with daddy for the weekend while I was out of town for a bridal shower. Owen rode on Grandpa's boat for the first time and even got to "drive" the boat. According to Daddy Owen had a great time on the boat. He also liked to throw rocks into the lake.

Owen also went to his first Royals baseball game. The Royals were playing the Minnesota Twins. Owen and Daddy were sitting next to some Twins fans, and every time they cheered and clapped, so did Owen. I guess he remembers where he was born!

Owen loves suckers!

Owen has been obsessed with people mowing lawns this spring. He watches people mow lawns all the time. Daddy had the lawn mower out and Owen decided to give it a try! I know Daddy can't wait till Owen can take over lawn duty!

See...the kitties do love each other!

Owen mastered using a fork.

But mommy...I was just trying to get them in the bowl. I think the majority of my time is spent cleaning up Owen's messes!

Owen has started saying a few words this last month. He says hot, dada, duck, kitty (sounds more like itty), birdie (sounds more like de de) and kick (sounds more like dick!). Owen has also started throwing temper tantrums the last few weeks. He may look like me, but he has Jeff's attitude! If I tell him he is not allowed to do something, or take something away from him he starts balling and throws himself on the ground. Let me just tell you that it is far from cute! He also has started biting me when he is mad. He does not bite Jeff or anyone at the babysitters house. I don't know how I got so lucky! I am hoping the biting has to do with the teeth that he is getting. He just got his bottom eye teeth which makes a total of 14 teeth and the top eye teeth should be coming in any day now! Hopefully we will be done with teething until the 2 year molars. We need a break from the drool!
